A Few Years Down the Line.

Whenever I see an elderly couple at the hospital, helping each other with simple tasks like sitting in a wheelchair, it always warms my heart. These small, everyday actions show the deep love they share.

Love that lasts

Then there are those elderly couples who still hold hands as they walk through crowded spaces. Sometimes, I can’t help but feel just a little envious of that kind of love. The kind of love that lasts and grows stronger as time passes. And it makes me wonder,

What stories do they carry with them?

What challenges have they overcome together?

What is it that keeps them by each other’s side after so many years?

The grass is always greener on the other side.

These days, we’re always comparing our lives to what we see on social media. We scroll through photos of “perfect” couples living their best lives.

But even those couples who look perfect online have their own struggles. We only see the happy moments, not the hard work it takes to stay together. Social media only shows part of the picture, not the whole story.

But the truth is the grass is greener where you water it.

Before you make comparisons, ask yourself,

Why did you choose your partner in the first place?

What made you fall in love with them?

No one is perfect. Love is about accepting each other, flaws and all. Focus on what you have and work to make it stronger. And happiness doesn’t come from chasing something new, it comes from appreciating what’s already in your life.

True companionship

If you spend time in a hospital, you can see the reality of life.

Walk through a hospital ward, and you will see elderly couples still caring for each other. Husbands being cared for by wives, and wives looking after their husbands. They’ve seen each other at their best and worst, but they still stand by each other.

Sure, we may have parents, siblings, friends, and children one day, but not everyone will be there when we need them the most.

Our children grow up, start their own families, and become busy with their own lives. Our parents, when we need them most, may no longer be around or maybe too old to help as they once did. Even close friends might not always be there when we need them.

In those tough moments, you will see who stands by you. So, treat your partner well. Never take their presence for granted. Having someone who loves and supports you through every challenge is one of life’s greatest gifts.

It’s always easy to find people who want to be around you when things are good, but it’s rare to find those who stay when times are hard.

True love is worth waiting for

Some people take their time to get married, and that’s okay. Marriage is a big commitment that shouldn’t be rushed. I don’t judge people for taking their time, in fact, it is important to do so. The goal is not just to get married but to have a marriage that lasts.

So, when you see someone taking their time to find a partner, don’t be quick to judge them for wanting to find someone who is 'perfect.' I believe they are searching for qualities and a connection they haven’t yet found in anyone.

At the end of the day, what we all truly want is someone who will love us deeply, who will stay with us when life gets hard, and who will grow old with us.

True love is rare, but it’s worth waiting for, worth working for, and worth fighting for.
